Coma is, without a doubt, one of the most renowned bands in contemporary Poland. Distinguished by their platinum selling records, elaborate stage shows, and a following whose loyalty brings them near cult status, the group’s ascent from a post industrial city to stardom is astonishing. The band was formed in 1998 in Łódź, which bleak, post-industrial landscape made it one of the most unattractice cities in Poland. Despite such conditions, the town had gradually deve loped into an epicenter for artists and musicians. The first five years involved a bittersweet struggle. Year after year, Coma performed across the country, gradually building up an army of fans and supporters. Towards the end of this initial period, most of their events were sold out. Paradoxically, not a single label in Poland was interested in Coma and the guys decided to call it quits. Eventually, their potential has been seen by BMG Poland and a few months later they released their debut album Emerge from Darkness (2004). Since then Coma have released 6 studio albums, received 7 Fryderyk Awards, played thousands of sold out shows and opened for such bands as Pearl Jam, Linkin Park, and Tool.
